Knowing This First

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Peter 1:20-21)

In ancient times of monarchial dominions men were born and raised into positions of power and influence. Others achieved those platforms by stealth operations of diplomacy, and some by sheer treason and force. They put themselves into coveted places of adoration and worship of men, and were celebrated, revered, and feared for the power they yielded. They set up monuments and statues of themselves, and commanded obedience at the penalty of death for all defiance. The images of their personalities were in the minds of all society.

Today, the same ambitions exist in the “civilized” world, but are cloaked with the attire of prestige, fame, and popularity of personalities, wielding dominance over individuals and groups of followings who idolize the same “gods” of worship as in ancient times. The hearts of men bow before the “superior” intelligence and influence of modern idols of worship forsaking all reason and allegiance to principles, virtues, and ethics, to stay in the know of the latest cultic obsession.

The apostate church of the day follows suit in the same corruption, draped with the sensibilities of religious jargon and self-serving ideals of self-absorbed love and importance, propagating their own deceptions and perverse doctrines, appealing to the carnal rebellious nature of the disobedient, fostering the latest adulteries of the Word of God, to enhance their ratings of personality idolatry, retaining their followings, and increasing of their revenues.

“And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet. These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.” (2 Peter 2:13-18)

True inspiration from God comes without any input of man. A word from God is pure and direct from the heart of God. It is unadulterated by the hearts of men, and God does not ask for or require of man anything more than faith and obedience.

“Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.” (Proverbs 30:5)

“For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.” (2 Corinthians 13:8)

As the text says, “no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation.” No Word from God has been cornered by a personality. No one has been “enlightened” with a superior revelation than what the Holy Spirit had already inspired in the Scriptures through the holy prophets and apostles without the interference of their wills. Even God recognizes them as “gods,” but He never intended for His people to be dependent upon them, to the point of idolization and impersonation. True servants of God lay out His whole counsel from Genesis to Revelation, demanding His people to forsake their idolatrous notions of personality worship, cleaving to the living God alone, devoting themselves to His kingdom purposes, and not their own empirical gratifications.

“I have said, ‘You are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.’ But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.” (Psalms 82:6-7)

Ministry gifts have been ordained by God to reveal His inspired Word and remind His people of what He has spoken. Ministers are not gifted with an inherited special ability that belongs to them to be used at their own disposal. There is nothing in any man that makes them superior to anybody else. They are simply spiritual wombs that God has chosen to conceive and deliver His Word in due season for the guidance and spiritual nourishment of His people. God Himself is the Great Shepherd of His sheep, and raises up a man of His own choosing, and makes them fit for His kingdom purposes as it pleases Him. They are all unprofitable servants in the hand of God, at His disposal, and His bidding, whenever He wills to work through them, and therefore deserving of no more recognition and honor than any other obedient servant of His.

“Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are His. And, let everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:19-21)

God has always been seeking for a man that will respond to His calling of separation from the carnal entanglements of the world’s vanities, esteeming the will of God of much greater value and honor than this world’s temporal platitudes, willing to pay the price of surrendering all for the eternal rewards of obedience to the high call of God.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him…” (2 Chronicles 16:9)

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.” (Hebrews 11:24-26)

If you are following a modern “god” who is vomiting the same as message as everybody else, you can be sure that he is not in contact with the Holy Spirit and speaking from the mouth of the LORD. He is a spiritually dead self-made or man-made puppet, cutoff from the heart of God, regurgitating dead carcasses and the latest winds of doctrines like vultures. God is an originator. His Word is always original, relevant, and fresh in its season, and only comes to one man. He does not need a multitude of echoes to His voice. He forms one man for each time and season of His kingdom purpose. He doesn’t produce clones and man-made “gods” of the day. All of God’s people must humble themselves and seek the LORD individually for the Word that He has called them to be and deliver. Proud and lazy men plagiarize the Word of the LORD to make themselves the latest false “god” of popularity, because they refuse to seek and wait on the LORD.

“Is not my word like as a fire? says the LORD; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, says the LORD, that steal my words everyone from his neighbor.” (Jeremiah 23:29-30)

“I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.” (Jeremiah 23:21-22)

False prophets and teachers of the day are multiplying by the hour, speaking pleasing platitudes, compromising the truth of Scripture, concocting their own doctrines, making “converts” twice as dead as themselves with their “own benefit” in mind of obtaining a following for themselves. They lack the character and the courage to speak the demands of Christ and the admonitions of the whole counsel of God, for fear of losing their false influence and pay checks. God may be silent, but He is not ignorant of the corruption in His name, and His swift judgment will be revealed in due time.

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.” (2 Peter 2:1-3)

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” (Matthew 23:15)

“These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.” (Jude 1:16)

Where are the true spiritual fathers of the faith, that rightly divide the Word of truth, laboring in doctrine to give true spiritual birth by the Holy Spirit till Christ is formed in His people? Where are the men of God that sacrifice their own popularity and prestige to speak the Word of the LORD to His people, presenting pure virgins to Christ, that possess undying love for their Heavenly Bridegroom, sold out to His truth at all costs, having renounced the vanities and pleasures of this world, totally consecrated to His cause and the establishment of His kingdom in the hearts of men, hastening His return? Instead we find a multitude of self-serving, man pleasing, little pussies in the pulpit, promoting themselves by perverse doctrines, reproducing idolatrous and whorish admirers of the world’s modern ideals.

“For though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have you not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” (1 Corinthians 4:15)

“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,” (Galatians 4:19)

“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one Husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:2)

The Lord Jesus will not be wed to a spiritual whore of the world and idolatrous follower of the personalities of men. The High Priest is only allowed to be married to a chaste virgin, pure in heart and in spirit. God’s living and written Word is pure and the wife He has chosen for His Son will be equally pure. The Father will never give His Son a bride that is contaminated with idols and false gods of the modern world.

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them…They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God… A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.” (Leviticus 21:1, 7, 14)

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues.” (Revelation 18:4)
